APPMAN @ Glance

APPMAN, the Association of Pharmaceutical Products Marketers of Nigeria has undergone transmutation from the old NAGPPE to its present form and structure, so as to satisfy the pressing demands of a pragramatic and consolidated relationship within the teeming members as well as with the relevant regulatory stakeholders.

The mission of APPMAN in its present form and as established is to project and protect the business concerns of our swarming members while tenaciously “building the health of the nation” through intersectoral approach, robust self regulation, observance of regulatory guidelines, internal cleansing and to ensure a safety net in the drug distribution chain systems in Nigeria.

The above stated mission has been the fulcrum upon which the success of the present Executives was hinged, since assumption of office, about one year ago.

It is worth mentioning that the old Association named NAGPPE which was just in about 5 states of the Federation before transmutating to APPMAN can now boast of its presence in more than 30 states across the country, while consciously maintaining our Executives across the six geopolitical zones of the nation.

The membership drive has been very successful due to the multiple efforts of our new digitalized and amiable President

who left no stone unturned in his quest for success.

His zeal coupled with commitments and supports from all APPMAN excecutives that share thoroughly his positive vision of a ‘new APPMAN that can stand the test of time and hold her own in the comity of all standardized associations in the country”, added to the monumental gains recorded by the Association within just a year.

Our association is very noble and expected by law to work assidously with all regualtory agencies most especially the PCN and others like NAFDAC , NDLEA, MOH etc. This we have conscientiously done with great care and perseverance.

I am happy to tell you that the negative stories of old been bandied about our dear association have been completely conscripted into the annals of history as we now have, newly remodelled, reliable, dependable, trustworthy, computer literate and big fishes in the new ocean
of APPMAN.
I want to use this medium to appreciate our

regulators, who through their consistent scrutiny and drives to ensure a safety drug net, have made APPMAN to successfully metamotphorsized to what we are today.

All exchanges during the avoidable court litigations between our parent Association NAGPPE and PCN leading to the breakthrough in our freedom at the Supreme court are clearly avoidable and as humans, i hoped, wished and assumed that all parties concerned have drawn several positive lessons of life from it.

The Supreme court ordered and pronounced that our members can sell retail or wholesales in as much as we employ a Pharmacist, this is a watershed in our history and this Association will never forget the sweats of our heroes past that made this achievement achievable.

It is my humble position on behalf of this honourable association that the newly found love and positive relationship between us and particularly with the PCN and other regulatory bodies will be sustained in the overall interest of the nation’s economic growth and the safety of all end users of Pharmaceutical products across the country.

I also want to use this medium to suggest alternative conflict resolution strategies to whatever challenge that arises between us and PCN or face within our business with other regulatory agencies through an appropriately channelled dialogue and multi-dimensional interfacing interactions to issues rather than the age long and outdated method of violent rivalry and incessant court actions.

This new but peaceful approach is what we promise to give at all times and hopefully, the PCN will communicate same to all the state offices, so as to relate positively with APPMAN by resolving all disputes and misunderstandings amicably.

In summary, I commend all APPMAN members who had weathered many lethal, obnoxious and suffocating storms, as experienced in the various policies of old to arrive at where we are today, our solace is in the fact that a new dawn has berthed in our Association and I am proud to say that, surely we have risen again and to fall no more in God’s name. Amen.

Amandla Awethu.

Hon. Dr. Samuel Omotoso
National PRO of APPMAN
