Transparency in the Nigeria Public Pharmaceutical’s Sector and the Perception by the Relevant Stakeholders!

Pharmaceuticals are an integral components of the healthcare system worldwide.
Nigeria is one of the several countries where Pharmaceutical systems have been negativity impacted by trafficking and substandard drugs.
Our system had struggled to curtail that over the years without much results to show for it.
In 2001 the NATIONAL AGENCY FOR FOOD DRUGS ADMINISTRATION AND CONTROL (NAFDAC), underwent an organization re-structuring resulting in major reforms, targeted at reducing counterfeit and achieving better regulations in the Pharmaceutical sector.
Despite these changes, there are still rooms for serious improvements.
Even with the many reported reforms instituted by NAFDAC, the pharmaceutical system in Nigeria still remains vulnerable.
What is most critical is the proper identification of areas that are still permeable, where more appropriate checks and balances are needed from the Nigeria Government to help the non pharmacist directors and the big players in the pharmaceutical sector.
These checks and balances will allow APPMAN to enjoy more ease of doing business in the area of taxes and registration of business premises as well as annual renewals of licence.
